Women have 'more choice' with fashion purchases

First published: 03-06-2009

Women have a lot more choice when it comes to fashion, according to BBC 6 Music presenter George Lamb.

Commenting at the Clothes Show London, he claimed that women have the variety available, such as their access to varieties of jewellery and DKNY watches, to "mix it up with something else".

Lamb admits he is a fan of Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood himself, but has to make use of his own tailor with items he purchases off the high street.

He added: "There has been huge innovation in the way that [the high street] has bought through young designers and even Zara are doing a big turnover where they can get something from the catwalk into shops in three weeks."

His comments follow research by Kelloggs Special K, published last month, which found that British women waste up to £650 million buying summer outfits that do not fit.

The research also revealed that the average woman sets themselves a target to lose half a stone over the summer.
