Watch emits elegance and grandeur

A new collection from one Swiss watchmaker oozes elegance and grandeur through its sleek and mature presentation.

Blancpain has launched its Villeret range which includes the Chronograph Monopoussoir, the Demi-Fuseau Horaire huit jours and the Quantieme Annuel GMT.

Of the latter, the GMT is the timepiece highlight. It is displayed by the central hour hand in 24-hour mode which is readable as a calendar.

The collection was presented at Baselworld 2011 watch and jewellery show, held earlier this year.

Made in a choice of either red or white 18-carat gold, the Chronograph Monopoussoir features mechanical self-winding, a sapphire crystal back and an alligator leather strap.

It is also water resistant to 30 metres and offers a whopping 72-hour power reserve, in a mere 40 mm-wide dial.

The Villeret Quantieme Annuel GMT comes in a white or rose gold case with a guilloche-work oscillating weight and is often seen on the wrists of winners of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo.

Blancpain is one of the oldest watchmakers in history and prides itself on its excellence and provocation.
