A number of the world's premier watch aficionados gathered at the beginning of the week to see some of the most exclusive watches ever produced, it has been reported.

Reuters Life revealed that William & Son, a high-end boutique in London's Mayfair, played host to international attendees keen to see some of the world's most expensive wrist-based timepieces, following planning by an esteemed community of bloggers.

Exclusive brands such as De Bethune, Romain Gauthier, FP Journe and Moser were there to show off their latest offerings, with prices exceeding £100,000 with a number of watches.

Commenting on upmarket collectors, North American agent for Swiss manufacturer De Bethune David Witkover said: "The watches collector has a Bentley in his garage and a Picasso on his wall but when he walks into the office, he wants to wear something unique, a work of art.

"It is understated elegance."

William Asprey founded the flagship William & Son store in Mayfair in 1999, with the firm specialising in gun and rifle production.
