A Van Cleef & Arpels timepiece has won the ladies watch prize at a prestigious ceremony, which could intrigue consumers to make a purchase of the product in question.

The Le Pont des Amoureux watch has walked away with the award at the Tenth Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve, Professional Jeweller reported.

Situated within the Poetic Complications collection from Van Cleef & Arpels, a jewellery and timepiece company which has been circulating since the early 1900s, the watch is unique in the way it displays the time.

A female silhouette on the left side of the watch displays the current hour, while a male counts down the minutes.

The news source explained: "A retrograde movement advances the characters, who indicate the passage of time until midnight, when they kiss."

A dial creating a luxury night time backdrop also enhances the face of the timepiece, with the product finished off with a white gold case – set with diamonds – and a choice of either an alligator strap or a chequered link band, complete with white gold and diamonds.
