Upcoming watch auction attracts expert picks

Excited about a future auction by Antiquorum that will see in excess of 450 timepieces being sold, Hodinkee has detailed the top three picks by experts who will be instrumental in their marketing.

Over 100 pieces will come from famous Franco-American artist Arman and shows that the specialists in the field of watches are able to choose the less obvious offerings as their selected favourites, according to the source.

Julien Schaerer, an auctioneer and watch director with Antiquorum USA, was excited about the Patek Philippe Devil's Horns, which he describes as a "collector's dream" and "one of the rarest and most flamboyant designed cases" to appear for a decade.

Charles Tearle, another director with the organisation, instead opted for the Minerva Oversize Split-Second Chronograph, a "stunning vintage watch" which is perfect for the modern man.

Finally, Courtney Carter, a junior watch expert, selected the Vacheron & Constantin Black Mystery, which embraces concentric circles for a "whimsical yet modernistic design".

Hodinkee specialises in top-end watches and is read in 197 countries around the world.
