Uber-rare Patek Philippe sees Moscow replaced

The famous World-Time watch created by Patek Philippe has an extremely rare incarnation currently on the market and is one which Russian buyers may not be too fond of, according to Hodinkee.

Fans of extremely hard-to-find timepieces will likely fall in love with the high-end offering, which has replaced Moscow with Doha in the list of cities around the periphery of the watch face.

Leaders including Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin and Harry S Truman were given these watches soon after the end of the Second World War, though this latest offering has been created for the government of Qatar.

It is understood that another Middle-Eastern country has created an elaborate gift for visiting dignitaries.

Hodinkee concluded: "Doha is written in red to make it stand out again against the 23 other cities on the dial. This was ordered by the State of Qatar to be given to someone of great importance, although it is unclear who."

Modern-day fans of Patek Philippe include French president Nicolas Sarkozy and Lord Mandelson, the UK's business secretary.
