Tissot watch is 'sturdy, robust and impressive'

A sports enthusiast has put the new Tissot watch through its paces to see if the brand matches up to the legacy it has created for itself through clever marketing.

Eric Thompson of the New Zealand Herald explained that the company has been an integral sponsor of motor racing events for over 50 years, including the likes of Nascar, MotoGP, cycling and IndyCar racing, with the writer - a surfer himself - deciding to put one of the new Tissot watches to the test.

He asserted that the new T-Touch Expert watch came through the test "with flying colours", taking the full force of crashing waves with crests of up to 1.5 metres, though a crash along the seabed saw him getting a broken toe and losing a little bit of skin in the scrape.

The Kiwi journalist thought there was a problem with the dials and hands of the timepiece when on his daughter's mountain bike but realised it was his vision from the bone-shaking ride making him confused.

Even a crashing thud to the ground saw the Tissot watch denting the floor but coming out unscathed, with Mr Thompson adding that the barometer is a particularly good feature.

He continued: "It gives you fair warning when the weather's going to change and gave me enough time to get back to the house before it started raining."

Last week, StyleCrave, a fashion website obsessed with new gadgets, featured the new Tissot T-Sport PRS Chronograph and described it as the "the height of technologically-advanced style".
