Timex watches offered as prizes for prostate cancer run

Timex watches are being offered as rewards for finishing on the podium of a 5k charity run in Birmingham, in a bid to bolster awareness about prostate cancer.

This initiative is being led by Olympic hurdler Colin Jackson, who wants to encourage men to talk more about their health and raise some money for Prostate Cancer UK, the Birmingham Mail reports.

While it is a fun run, three Timex timepieces are up for grabs for those who come in the top three of the race that will be held on June 15th - Father's Day.

Mr Jackson is spearheading the run because Afro-Caribbean men are up to three times more likely to develop prostate cancer. This is in light of two of his uncles who experienced the disease, one of whom died.

He is also calling upon women to get involved in the initiative by supporting the men running and encouraging them to check themselves regularly.
