Timex to shift focus towards luxury watches

Timex has stated it will take further steps into the luxury watch market as it is seeing a strong desire for these timepieces.

The company is seeing its watches become more popular across India and as a result of this will be looking to focus on the high-end market with some new designs.

VD Wadhwa, managing director of Timex Group India, told the Hindu that around two per cent of all the watches sold by the company in the country are from its luxury collection.

"This segment is the fastest growing for us and we expect at least five per cent of our revenues to come from luxury brands this year," Mr Wadhwa added.

The group will be focusing more on the global trends, as designs made specifically for the India market have not been selling as well as had been anticipated.

Last month, Timex also announced it would be shifting towards making watches that appealed to the health and wellbeing market.
