Timex India set to bundle watches with other fashion accessories

Consumers in India could soon be able to buy a watch in a matching bundle with other fashion apparel.

Timex Group India is in talks with apparel and accessories brands in the country to introduce the offers, which would be the first time a watchmaker has took to this marketing strategy.

Though the company will not announce who they are in talks with, they hope to reveal more details within the next 30 days, Mydigitalfc has reported.

VD Wadhwa, managing director for Timex Group India, believes that consumers no longer buy a watch just to know the time but as a fashion accessory. He also points out that research has shown that people in the 17-24 age groups for the country "have more than three watches on an average."

Mr Wadhwa also said: "They prefer using different watches with different dresses and for different occasions."

This information helped the company, which was originally formed in America in 1854 as the Waterbury Watch Company, to spot a gap in the market and it hopes that its initiative could prove appealing.
