Special edition Chopard launched for charity auction

A special edition timepiece from Chopard has been launched in aid of the Watch Only 2011 charity auction.

The LUC Engine One Tourbillion is a unique take on the original design, released in a limited black and yellow coloured version.

Reflective of a car engine, the watch features a mechanical hand-wound tourbillon movement mounted on silent blocks which act as shock absorbers.

It also boasts a 60-hour power reserve and beats a cadence of 28,800 vibrations per hour.

Along the side of the watch face is the Chopard signature emblazoned in silver and yellow.

Meanwhile, the entire look of the timepiece is in keeping with the image of sports car engines, accentuated by mini silver blade-like fixtures under the glass.

The titanium case is glare-proofed sapphire crystal and is just over ten mm thick.

For those who like taking a dive with their watch, it is also water proof to 50 metres.

It is chronometer certified (COSC), features Arabic numerals and central hour and minute hands.

The Watch Only charity auction is in aid of boys with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
