Silver watches in demand

Investing in a ladies or men's watch, which is made from silver or gold can be a savvy option for many as these precious materials are highly sought-after.

Silver has become highly sought-after as it can be used in technology, such as for parts inside smartphones and tablets, with this demand unlikely to slow down any time soon.

Phil Baker, chief executive officer of Hecla, told MineWeb that demand for silver is now at the same pace that it was 100 years ago and that it is a great business to be in for at least the next 50.

He told the radio show host Geoff Candy that demand and supply are currently balanced.

"There is a billion ounces of supply but there's very close to call it 900m ounces of demand and it comes in a variety of forms," Mr Baker said.

"You certainly have the investment demand and that has been very strong for the past four or five years, but what's been missed I think, is the other demand that you have."

He explained about the technological uses of the precious metal and added that there is also a high jewellery demand for silver.

More people are buying silver jewellery and watches than its cousin gold as it is a much more affordable metal, Mr Baker explained.

When it comes to watches, there are plenty of models made from silver that men and women can choose from.

J&T Windmills has several men's watches to choose from that have a silver dial and face complete with a black leather strap.

For ladies watches, look no further than Rotary as this brand has several silver watches in its range including the Ladies Rotary Silver Watch, which is sleek, elegant and has a classic design.

There is also the option to purchase a silver watch accompanied by a matching bracelet for those who love the precious metal.
