Orange watch phone to hit shelves this month

Gadget fans rejoice: the watch phone offering from Orange and LG will be hitting the shelves very soon indeed.

The mobile phone network provider outlined its plans to release the watch on August 27th, no doubt inspiring many James Bond fans to get hold of the exclusive timepiece which is aimed at satisfying both style and function, LG believes.

It may not be far off in that assessment either, as the watch has a 3G connection, a 1.5in capacitive touchscreen with a software keyboard as well as an MP3 player, a VGA camera and voice controls, with the token Bluetooth connectivity thrown into the mix.

Many may be disappointed, however, that there is no Wi-Fi function built in, though a USB cable can help stick a few MP3s and pictures onto the ultimate watch gadget.

It's not cheap, though - if you have £500 to spare however, it may be a good investment.

As part of a corporate social responsibility programme, the Orange Foundation raises money for those with sensory impairment and its employees once notably raised £160,000 for the Royal National Institute of Blind People and the British Deaf Association between 2003 and 2004.
