Older men 'love big, bulky and complicated watches'

The older gent is much more inclined to pick a complicated watch should they have the chance to choose their timepiece, according to an expert in the timekeeping world.

Speaking to Canada.com, Marco Cantiani of Bijouterie Dominic explained that chronograph watches are a particular favourite of such a demographic, with stopwatch functions and other strange additions such as moon-phase readings being very popular.

Furthermore, the expert noted that leather and rubber straps are also desired by older men, while scratch-resistant surfaces and luminous hands can come in quite handy.

Finally, Mr Cantiani explained that gold watches are also making a comeback, with rose gold being in major demand should the gent be more willing to spend a lot of money on their timepiece.

However, digital watches are also doing particularly well in the current climate, with a National Jeweler poll finding that regular analogue offerings are not as popular due to the retro chic of numeric offerings.
