Old-school Casio databank watches are 'still cool'

First published: 26-06-2009

While many people may think that databank Casio watches would never come back after going slowly out of fashion in the 90s, they never actually went away in the first place, it is said.

Gearlog explained that geeks of a certain age have never stopped appreciating the clunky and somewhat large timepiece, with the website noticing that a Popular Science writer was able to pick one up for quite cheap, highlighting the accessibility such Casio watches have.

The website noted that Casio is still particularly proud of its once-popular brand of digital watches, explaining that they now come fitted with things to control TVs, DVD players and other items which require infrared beams.

However, there is one catch - people must be willing to look like a person who would wear the watch to get away with wearing it, Gearlog added.

Anyone considering an investment in such a style may want to take tips from Simon Mills of the Guardian, who said last week that the "clunky, trashy, nerdy and cool" digital watch is a great investment for anyone going for the retro look.
