New watch unveiled for Watch Only 2011

First published: 25-07-2011

A new watch has been unveiled by Corum for the Watch Only charity auction 2011, taking place in Monaco this September.

The Golden Bridge Automatic has a complicated design based on its Basel World 2011 predecessor.

The watch features an automatic design: an innovation on its original manual wind of the 1980s.

It took four years of research and development to get the winding mechanism right, according to The Watchery.

This limited edition timepiece comes with a black crocodile leather strap with red stitching, an 18-carat white gold mainplate and weighs four grams.

The underneath of its strap is an off-white colour engraved with the Corum brand and features a "piece unique" marking.

Its intricate dial displays the complicated look of wheels intertwining to churn out the time, with the watch deliberately labelled for the charity auction in aid of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

The Duchenne variant of the muscular disease affects boys only and was discovered by Dr Duchenne de Boulogne in the mid-19th century.
