New creative force behind Kenneth Cole watches

Future design and merchandising for Kenneth Cole watches will be overseen by new creative director Ingo Wilts from August 1st 2009.

The former senior vice-president and creative director at Hugo Boss will be responsible for the design and merchandising of Kenneth Cole New York and Kenneth Cole Reaction brands.

Mr Cole will take a backseat role in terms of creativity, concentrating his efforts on developing the company's strategy.

Commenting on the new appointment, Mr Cole said: "We recognized a need for a strong and experienced design leader who can focus 100 per cent of his time on product, which we are sure will bring better uniformity and consistency across all categories.

"Ingo has an impressive track record and brings extraordinary experience as both a creative director and a leader."

Mr Wilts underlined the potential of his new employer's fashion label, claiming that Kenneth Cole has "immense unrealised global potential".

He added that he looks forward to creating a "compelling contemporary fashion for modern men and women".

Earlier this month, chief executive officer at the label Jill Granoff explained that the brand was committed to innovation and providing an "enhanced customer experience" in the long term.
