New Blancpain is 'far from the norm'

Blancpain has become known for its creation of watches for Valentine's Day so that those wanting to dig deep can spend plenty of money during the time to truly treat their partner.

This week, Gizmag looked at the newest offering set for release on February 14th, which features a border of over 500 stones and a watch face, which is heart-shaped, set in mother-of-pearl and pink sapphires.

To add to the more luxurious aspects of the timepiece, Blancpain has also included satin straps and the famous miniature Lady Bird Calibre 615 mechanism, which is highly coveted among watch fans, likely making the newest model particularly expensive - as high as $55,000.

And you'll have to be quick; only 14 are being created.

Gizmag proudly added: "Though we have previously covered Blancpain's Valentine's Day release, this is the first time that Blancpain has deviated from a more familiar form of watch in over 250 years of master watchmaking."

In 2008, Blancpain became the official sponsor of the world's first Lamborghini racing championship, the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo.
