Monochrome returns for a stylish spring

Plenty of trends are already emerging for the coming spring, meaning even the hardest-to-please fashionista should find something to snap up and enjoy as the weather gets warmer.

One of the most prominent is monochrome, with all the best designers and clothing stores displaying black and white stripes or prints.

Fashion director Paula Reed from Harvey Nichols confirmed in an interview with Metro that it's definitely a key craze.

She commented: "We love it because it's so versatile and can be worn head-to-toe, a la Marc Jacobs or, for the more demure, simply by using accessories [like those from] Nicholas Kirkwood, Alexander McQueen and Sophie Hulme."

Lots of the looks are perhaps unsurprisingly channelling the 1960s, so expect to see lots of miniskirts and baker boy hats over the coming weeks.

There are lots of ways to wear monochrome - stripes always look classy, as do plain tailored separates with bold accessories such as necklaces.

However, you could try going rock chick with skinny black jeans and rock star T-shirts. Keep your jewellery substantial, with lots of silver and even studs. If you want ladies' watches, a Rotary Revelations could be ideal - you can flip the face to choose between black and white depending on how you feel each day.

Of course, black and white can also be elegant and classic a la Audrey Hepburn. For daytime, try an A-line knee-length skirt with a boat-neck white jumper in light material. For this look, accessories should be subtly glamorous - an Accurist Charmed Dust would certainly fit the bill.

There are lots more monochrome watches to choose from at Watch Shop, no matter how you choose to wear your black and white this spring - why not have a browse or use the dedicated search bar to take a look?
