Modern ticker wrapped in classic style

There's one watch keeping ahead of innovation by incorporating an impressive chronograph dial with it its 1970s style.

The Zenith El Primero Striking Tenth's chronograph function is able to accurately time races, dives, whatever you like, down to a tenth of a second.

And while other chronographs oscillate at between five and eight times per second, the Striking Tenth manages it in, well, ten.

As groundbreaking as the chronograph may be, it's not the only feature of this classic timepiece design worth gawping at.

It wraps around the wrist with an alligator leather strap lined with rubber protection and fastens with an 18-carat rose gold buckle.

There's also an optional water-resistant style, allowing you to dive as deep as 100 metres.

The design has a double-layered clutch wheel made entirely of silicon, making it three-and-a-half times lighter than typical wheels.

Hodinkee founder Benjamin Clymer said: "I loved my time with the El Primero Striking Tenth, and consider it one of the absolute coolest watches around right now."
