Luxury watches in high demand among Scotland's shoppers

Luxury watches are at the top of many people's wish lists this Christmas, with discerning shoppers in Edinburgh reportedly happy to invest good money in high-quality timepieces.

Looking into the shopping trends of the Scottish capital's residents, the local Evening News has revealed that, while some consumers have tightened their belts, a select few are splashing out as never before.

Notably, alongside designer handbags and clothes, demand for luxury watches is high across Edinburgh, with some jewellers reportedly enjoying sales of tens of thousands of pounds a day in the run-up to Christmas.

As yet, however, nobody has snapped up the jewel in the city's luxury shopping crown, a £500,000 Opera Two Girard-Perregaux watch, replete with a dark brown alligator skin strap and an ivory dial and presented in an eye-catching18-carat pink gold case.

News of the luxury spending splurge in Scotland comes as the Digital Luxury Group has reported that demand for top-end watches in China continue to grow at a rapid rate.
