Ladies watches 'becoming more popular'

First published: 17-04-2012

The popularity of watches among women is in on the increase as more see the attraction of owning a timepiece as a stylish accessory.

This rise in the number of watches being bought by ladies has been noted by Tom Kennett, owner and designer for, who said there is a widely-held view in the industry that more women are considering watch ownership.

He said the trend seems to be that more women are keen to wear timepieces than they have been in previous years.

"In general, people were flocking to use their mobile phone to tell the time and in the last year, there's been a push back and people are wanting to wear watches," Mr Kennett added.

Some women could be taking inspiration from celebrities wearing watches, as Angelina Jolie is regularly seen sporting a timepiece.

The actress was photographed wearing a watch with her new engagement ring at the weekend.
