Jewellery theft sees Usher lose $1m in luxuries

First published: 12-01-2010

Usher, one of the world's leading R&B artists, has taken a huge financial hit after he suffered a car burglary, which saw him lose over $1 million (£620,000) of jewellery and furs.

Electronics were also taken from the singer after his car was targeted by thieves in Atlanta.

The incident took place way back on December 14th but has just come to light now and happened as the singer parked his sports utility vehicle - a GMC Yukon - near a shopping mall when he was looking for goodies in Georgia's biggest city.

Usher reported a loss of jewellery of an unspecified value, though furs and cash amounting to over £40,000 were also in the boot.

Police are continuing to look into the case and are appealing for more witnesses to the incident.

Usher rose to fame in the mid-90s as a singer before going on to star in a number of TV shows and films, including 1998 blockbuster The Faculty.

His newest album, Raymond v Raymond, is out in February.
