A family-run jewellery company in Glasgow has revealed its ambitious plans to open a luxury watch boutique in its new store.

Laing the Jewellers in the Argyll Arcade in the city has just undergone a £1.5 million renovation which saw it expand into an adjacent store, the Glasgow Evening Times reported.

It is the next phase for the company which originally opened 150 years ago as a watch and clock repair firm.

Wendy Laing, who is currently one of the store's directors, told the newspaper that they are excited about opening a luxury watch boutique.

"The expansion is a huge project and we're looking forward to introducing the new in-store watch boutiques for our luxury brands Patek Philippe, Rolex, IWC and Cartier," Ms Laing said.

Recently, Cartier watches announced it is to expand its range in India with a line of 15 new timepieces for its luxury collection, which have each taken around five years to perfect.
