Jewellers targeted in London riots

A series of Jewellers residing in areas most affected by the ongoing London riots have been targeted by looters, it has been reported.

Jewellery stores across Tottenham, Enfield and Wood Green have all suffered break-ins, Professional Jeweller reported.

According to the news provider, G-Mantella on Green Lanes, a family-run jeweller, was among the retailers to be hit by turmoil that erupted last Saturday (August 6th).

Police also warned GL Jewellers on Green Lanes to close its doors for fear of the threat of rioters.

Violence and looting began in Tottenham this weekend after police shot dead 29-year-old father-of-four, Mark Duggan.

Controversy surrounds Mr Duggan's death after it was thought a bullet that was fired at a police officer, which got lodged in his radio, was in fact fired from a police weapon.

An investigation is underway to determine quite what the truth of the matter is, but in the meantime, Mr Duggan's family have called for an end to the violence.

Brother of the deceased, Shaun Hall, said: "Please don't make this about my brother's life. My brother was a good man."
