Italian designer presents 'submersible' timepiece

An Italian designer is keeping up with diving trends by updating its range with a watch built to dive as deep as 300 metres.

The Luminar Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic from Panerai features the date, small seconds and calculation of immersion time, all on one see-through sapphire crystal back.

It comes with interchangeable straps, so your sporting watching can double up for more elegant evening wear.

The watch comes in three varieties: p 9000, p 9001, and you guessed it, the p 9002.

It was described as being "dictated by a deep concern for optimal functionality" by the editor of The Watch Observer, who held it in high regard in part because of its value for money and high-quality finish.

He added: "This watch's design is reminiscent of a genuine tool watch of which we ask only the bare minimum, which Panerai achieves perfectly with this concern for minimalism and efficiency."

It appears the Luminar Submersible combines practicality, functionality and a little bit of style all on one dial.
