Watch wearers in India may find a great piece of jewellery to go with their timepiece at India International Jewellery Week (IIJW).

The event takes place at the Hotel Grand Hyatt, in Santa Cruz, between August 15th to August 19th and will see 30 designers showcasing their products, including Bina Goenka and Varun Jani. A host of jewellery brands will also be in attendance, with Mirari and Amrapali names among those announced.

All together, 1,600 stalls will be displayed with collections from 776 exhibitors at IIJW, which is sponsored by the apex body of trade for India, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council.

Its chairman, Vasant Mehta, said at a press meet: "IIJW is a platform to showcase India's prowess in jewellery, be it design, innovation, craftsmanship or quality."

India has quickly grown as a manufacturing centre of jewellery and Professional Jeweller reported earlier in the year that gem and jewellery exports in the country had increased by 62 per cent in January compared to the same period last year.
