Watch brand IWC has added to its Portofino collection with a ticker which has garnered praise from one source.

The Watch Observer has awarded the Portofino Chronographe a handsome rating of 70 out of 100, noting a wealth of appealing elements.

For one, the news source has described the dial of the timepiece as being "as simple as it is elegant", highlighted by the fact that the IWC and Schaffhausen border the sleek date window at three o'clock.

Reading the time is easy for fashion watch fans too, thanks to polished-steel applied markers gleaming off a solid black dial.

A touch of colour is added to the watch's display via subtle red elements appearing on the 30-minute and 12-hour subdials.

Consumers can choose between either an alligator leather or stainless-steel strap to finish off the design, both offering plenty of appeal.

The Portofino Chronographe joins a trio of other watches in the range – the Portofino Dual Time, the Portofino Automatic and the Portofino Hand-Wound Eight Days timepieces.

Each looks to honour the well-known Italian village that sits on the coast of the Mediterranean, which has entertained by such great names as Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor.
