Hugo Boss offers watches to reward top golfers

Gold watches have long been associated as retirement gifts for people who show particular loyalty to their firms.

However, designer watches from Hugo Boss could soon become even more closely associated with golf and more specifically victory in the sport, thanks to a new initiative by the brand.

Marketers there have launched a 2013 campaign designed to appeal to golfers of all ability levels that will see an incredible £1 million worth of timepieces given away.

Every player who is able to hit a verified hole-in-one between April 15th and October 31st will be sent a specially commissioned limited edition Hugo Boss watch completely free of charge.

The golfer will also get free membership to the Boss Watches H1 Club as part of their prize, in association with the Daily Telegraph and golfing social network HowDidiDo.

Spokesperson for the brand Stephen Brydon said this promotion "adds a frisson of extra excitement to club competitions for golfers who may not be in with a chance of winning the event, for they know that every time they stand on the tee on a par-three, they are just one shot away from winning a stunning timepiece".

He added that a designer watch will be a much better reminder of such a difficult feat than a simple round of drinks at the clubhouse or a story to dine out on at family events.

No registration for the promotion will be necessary, although players must be involved in an official club competition that is being recorded via HowDidiDo.

Holes-in-one will then be automatically recorded and independently ratified at Hugo Boss before a watch is sent out to the lucky golfer.

Although the odds of an amateur golfer hitting a hole-in-one are around 12,500 to one, there were almost 4,000 officially recorded last year, so it certainly isn't impossible.

Hugo Boss has enjoyed a long relationship with golf, having been involved in sponsorship for decades and even owning its own line of golf clothing.

It is currently sponsoring three tournaments on the European PGA tour, so its watches will definitely be seen on some of the professional golfers there.

However, anyone who doesn't play golf could still be inspired by this promotion. Designer watches do make great reminders of big achievements, so it could be a nice idea to buy or gift one as a treat after, say, passing exams, getting a big promotion or becoming a parent for the first time.

You'll be reminded of the achievement every time you check the time. OK, so you'll have to purchase your own as opposed to winning one, but this won't hit your pocket too hard if you head to Watch Shop.

We have Hugo Boss watches in stock from just £99, while the most expensive will cost £485, so there is something to suit every budget.

You don't have to stick to this brand though, as we also stock plenty of others, including Sekonda, Armani, Diesel, Fossil and Police in order to cater for individual taste as well as price point.
