Hugo Boss Watches has revealed it will sponsor the International Monohull Open Classes Association (IMOCA) 60 Class Ocean Masters Manhattan Charity Race, which will take place today (May 29th) at New York Harbour.

Such a competition is a forerunner for the race from New York to Barcelona, that starts at the former location on June 1st.

Each team will choose a charity that they will be supporting throughout the race and the watchmaker will donate $10,000 (£5,986) to the winning organisation.

Hugo Boss boasts two different ranges of timepieces - the sophisticated Boss range and the newer Orange watch collection.

President of Hugo Boss Watches Xavier Gauderlot said: "This is a fabulous opportunity to celebrate the lead up to the inaugural IMOCA Ocean Masters New York to Barcelona Race."

He added the firm was "very excited" to sponsor this event and raise awareness of the winning team's charity.

Hugo Boss has a long-standing affiliation with the IMOCA class, as they sponsor the British skipper Alex Thomson.
