G-Shock launches special edition watches

Over the last 30 years, G-Shock has become one of the most recognisable watch brands in the world, with celebrities like rap star Eminiem helping to increase its profile.

And, in the year that the company celebrates its landmark anniversary, it has released a number of new watch designs, including the impressive GAC100-1A and the GAC100-8A.

Both of these designs follow in the proud tradition of the brand of being stylish as well as practical.

The glossy GAC100-1A is a must-have fashion accessory for any man and, if you're looking to turn a few heads, then it's perfect in that regard, too.

The matte grey GAC100-8A, meanwhile, is a similarly impressive design and, again, one that is as functional as it is attractive.

Shigenori Itoh, the chairman and chief executive officer of Casio America, explained why the watches have been designed in such a way.

"G-Shock continues to be a leader in technology and cutting-edge fashion for timepieces," the chairman said.

"With the release of the analogue blockade chronograph, we are pushing the boundaries of inspired timepieces for the fashion conscious consumer."

Both designs are to be made available to consumers in the US in November 2012, G-Shock confirmed.

Earlier this year, G-Shock celebrated its 30th anniversary with a special guest performance from Eminem, who entertained 2,000 people at the Manhattan Center in New York City.

Slim Shady, as he is also known, has helped to make the G-Shock brand even more well-known among a mainstream audience. And, recently, it was announced that they are to work in partnership to develop a special edition watch that will go on sale in 2013.

The partnership between the rap star and G-Shock is one of a number of interesting arrangements that have been struck in recent times.

Many of these collaborative efforts, including those designed in conjunction with Eric Haze, DGK and CLOT, were put on display at the anniversary celebrations.
