Fossil watches 'look to expand in India'

Fossil watches look like they will be actively targeting Indian customers in the coming months, according to the area's leading news agency.

The desire to own high-end watches in the country could create a potentially massive market for organisations that want to give more depth and breadth to their global operations, according to Asian News International.

Seven per cent of Raymond Weil Watches' income is being channelled through Indian markets, according to president and chief executive of the company Oliver Bernheim, who also noted that brands including Fossil and Casio have joined their ranks.

Mr Bernheim told the news agency that Indian consumers are ever becoming more innovative in their attire and watches naturally match this demand, particularly global brands which include them as a wider factor in international fashion.

This week, it was revealed that the 17th Jewellery and Watch Show in the UAE was a huge hit, owing to the popular market that watches still have in the Middle East despite the downturn.
