Find watches 'that are easy to read'
First published: 03-11-2011
When selecting a watch there are a wide number of things which people need to keep in mind, which could affect the timepiece they choose.Although it is important to select a timepiece which appeals to the wearer and fits in well with their wardrobe, there are also some other more practical implications which need to be kept in mind.
Offering advice on the types of watch that people should be looking for, Ariel Adams, owner and editor-in-chief of aBlogtoRead.com, explained that one key consideration which is sometimes overlooked is considering if the watch is easy to read.
He said wearers need to find a timepiece which they think they will feel comfortable both wearing and using for many years to come.
It is also important to get something which users understand the value of, as if people have a deeper knowledge of the materials which have been used and the craftsmanship involved in the timepiece, it can help to appreciate what it is they are paying for.
"[They need to] look at quality and inspect the watch carefully to understand what they are paying for," Mr Adams advised.
Understanding a bit about the actual watch itself and its heritage could also help people to gain a stronger bond with their item and have a much richer experience of owning and using it.
"It is important to understand what went into the watch and perhaps a bit about the history of the brand if you are curious [about] where it came from," the horologist added.
For those who want something fashionable but which will also stand the test of time, Drew from WatchesandReviews.com recently suggested looking for something which has a vintage appeal to it.
The expert explained that watch design is currently seeing a "retro resurgence".
