Anyone in or around Qatar for the next few days should consider popping along to the latest event to open in the country, as it will provide a flight of fancy for any watch fans in the area.

That's because the seventh annual Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition is now open and features a wide array of timepieces and remarkable jewellery which is being exclusively showcased by no less than 255 leading brands from 16 countries across the world.

Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani, the prime and foreign minister of the emirate, was accompanied by chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority Ahmed Al Nuaimi to officially inaugurate the event at the Qatar International Exhibition Centre.

Commenting on his attendance, Mr Al Nuaimi said: "We are proud to organise such a prestigious regional event in Doha, and we are honoured by the overwhelming turnout at today's exhibition opening.

"I am delighted to present the largest edition of our annual Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition to date."

Last month, Fossil announced an agreement with Qatar Airways that will see it carry one of the group's many watches onboard for sale through the newest issues of Qatar Airways' Shopping Extravaganza catalogue.
