Convertible creations were 'big focus' at recent watch fair

The 20th Salon International de Haute Horlogerie has proven a big success among high-end watch makers, though it was the watches with dual faces, or timepieces which served dual purposes, which turned heads, according to a new report.

Montblanc's Metamorphosis was a prime example of this trend, according to Elite Traveler, with the design realised by an independent watch engineer but produced by the leading organisation.

The creation is housed in a case based on an existing Montblanc but the watch's dial is able to transform "like a butterfly", seeing the date function recede into the case while a chronograph function rises up in its place.

Antoine Preziuso also unveiled a new watch with a dial able to flip over to reveal a second while Bovet revealed its new Amadeo concept, which was much the same in its approach, according to the publication.

The market for high-end watches will boom this year, according to a report this month from Reuters, which detailed how Swiss independent timepiece producers Parmigiani Fleurier and Girard-Perregaux both revealed positive market placement.
