Consider different brands for luxury watches

First published: 02-09-2011

When buying a watch it is important to remember that there are more great brands out there than just those which have become household names.

This is according to watches expert Robin Swithinbank, who told the Daily Telegraph that there is more choice than just the likes of Omega and TAG Heuer.

The editor of dedicated watch publication QP explained to the newspaper that looking for a company which produces Swiss designs is a good place to start, as it provides an excellent quality of timekeeping, without having to worry too much about the price tag.

He suggested that people with fairly sizable budgets should consider companies such as Frederique Constant, which produces models that are tested for accuracy both before and after manufacture.

"TAG Heuer and Omega make great watches at great prices. But they're not the only ones out there," Mr Swithinbank said.

For a stylish watch, try the Tissot PRC200 Chronograph, which has a Swiss quartz movement.
