A leading figure in the watchmaking industry has been honoured for the mark he made on it.

Claude-Daniel Proellochs, a big name in the Swiss watch industry, passed away on January 8th after a short fight against cancer, Professional Jewellery reported.

During his career, Mr Proellochs made his presence known at Omega and Eterna, the latter of which he spent fourteen years of his life with as its general manager.

However, arguably his face will be most recognisable to watch fans for his work at Vacheron Constantin, of which he worked between 1988 and 2005 – seeing in the 250th anniversary of the brand.

The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry commented: "Claude-Daniel Proellochs was a master of subtle humour and leaves only fond memories to those who had the good fortune to know him."

Despite mainly being associated with the watch industry, Mr Proellochs also had success in other ventures, such as gaining a degree in economics, with a major in industrial management.
