Clapton''s Rolex is ''Cream of the crop''

Guitar fans the world over will likely want to count their coppers and check the rainy day fund for an upcoming auction, which will feature a Rolex watch which once belonged to Eric Clapton.

The attractive and vintage Rolex from back in the 1950s was covered this week by Hodinkee, noting that the timepiece formerly belonging to Slow Hand will soon be on sale through Robert Maron.

The 18k rose gold chronograph is, according to Mondani, worth around £50,000 in very good condition, though it is likely to be worth much more than that with the endorsement of a man regularly seen as one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

Hodinkee concluded: "Obviously, this is a potentially once in a lifetime chance to get your hands on a watch of this calibre owned by a musician of this calibre."

Eric Clapton came fourth in the list of top ten guitarists of all time by none other than Rolling Stone magazine, placing him behind Jimi Hendrix, Duane Allman and BB King.
