Citizen watches scoops brand award

Citizen watches have been celebrating after picking up an award at the International Jewellery Fair in Australia.

The company was given the prestigious prize of New Zealand Supplier of the Year at the showcase, Jeweller Magazine reported.

It marks the second consecutive year that the brand has taken home the gong.

Given the award by Nationwide Jewellers, marketing manager at Citizen Rod Willment offered his thanks to the company and said their support is integral to the continuing success of the company.

"Working closely with Nationwide allowed us to connect with our market and help re-assess our brand and pricing strategy for middle-market watch consumers in New Zealand," Mr Willment added.

The event also held a showcase of some of the best new designs in watches and jewellery, with models on a catwalk showing off the stunning timepieces.

Citizen is promoted globally by tennis player Kim Clijsters, who saw victory in 2011 at the Australian Open Championship.
