Casio to release new limited edition G-Shock

First published: 16-04-2009

The G-Shock X G5500SRF-1 Surfrider Foundation collaboration Casio watch celebrates 25 years of protecting oceans and beaches across the globe.

A proportion of the proceeds will be offered to the non-profit grassroots organisation, founded in 1984 to protect the world's natural surfing resources.

The new Casio watch is ecologically friendly and makes use of a solar panel and large capacity rechargeable battery.

Casio Timepiece division vice-president Shigenori Itoh said the watchmaker was "proud to partner with the Surfrider Foundation".

He said: "Clean and safe oceans and beaches are a priority for G-Shock."

Matt McClain, director of marketing at the Surfrider Foundation, added that the new limited edition Casio watch was a "great way" to celebrate 25-years of sustainable ocean and beach work.

The Surfrider Foundation now has more than 80 chapters worldwide with over 50,000 members.
