Casio showcases model to rival smartwatch movement

First published: 19-12-2013

There have a been a fair few offerings for around your wrist from what are traditionally non-watchmaking brands in the form of smartwatches this year.

However, one of the more well-recognised companies - Casio - may have come up with its own solution to tackle the technological onslaught of its sector.

The G-Shock GBX6900B is being touted as the firm's answer to smartwatches entering the market from the likes of Samsung and others, without betraying the original concept of what Casio watches offer.

As well as controlling music volume and song-skipping functionality on the user's mobile phone thanks to its bluetooth connectivity, the latest model in the G-Shock range does not have to be removed at night and recharged, unlike many of its similar competitors.

The design also remains true to the philosophy behind the line, in that it is durable and offers the same classic design. However, it also offers new extras like email alerts and a phone finder function.
