Bi-metallic watches 'have seen rise in demand'

Bi-metallic watches have seen a strong increase in sales, as the overall performance of the watch industry has improved in recent times.

The figures released by the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry (FHS) revealed there has been a rise in demand for the watches made from two colours of metal, as well as there being more people looking for watches made from one design.

Commenting on the results, the FHS stated that along with the rise in consumers looking to purchase gold watches, bi-metallics have also "showed the same trend".

The industry group revealed that gold and steel watch exports increased by 15.8 per cent with 117,500 watches being exported during November 2011 alone, with a total value of £337.7 million.

The FHS also recently noted that the rising demand for watches was being pushed forward by the Asian markets, with the group explaining it is likely sales will exceed all expectations over the coming year.
