Bench forced to cancel event in Manchester

The weather recently proved too much for Bench, which had to scrap a Manchester event to launch its new collection amid fears over the blizzards, it has been reported.

A secret location at a historic building in the city was booked to preview the firm's newest wares - namely its autumn/winter 2010 collection - to possible investors and agents from 28 countries including Canada, Russia and Germany, the Manchester Evening News revealed.

Rob Griffiths, the head of product and marketing at Bench, said that the issue was a "huge blow" but the organisation felt that it would be a risk to people travelling from abroad.

He told the newspaper: "We are very much a Manchester brand and one of the things we wanted to do was bring people from all over the world and show them our home.

"It has cost us some money, but we have been doing our best to recoup as much as possible."

Bench is now a highly respected urban lifestyle brand and was named the coolest streetwear brand by the 2007/2008 CoolBrands panel.
