Bell & Ross honours military watches of the past

First published: 11-04-2011

Long-time watch collectors may be interested to hear that Bell & Ross is looking to honour military watches of times gone by with a pair of new timepieces.

The brand has revealed both the Vintage PW1 pocket watch and the WW1 wristwatch, each of which offer "nostalgic yet modern" designs, according to Watch Time.

Some of the highlight features of the PW1 include a case diameter measurement of 49mm, which is finished in an elegant coating of polished steel.

A domed dial with a galvanic-black tone and luminescent hands also help to make the pocket watch easy to read.

Meanwhile, the WW1 is slightly smaller at 45mm, which again comes styled with a galvanic-black dial and luminescent hands, though a black alligator strap enhances the design of the wristwatch option.

Commenting on the timepieces, Bell & Ross designer Bruno Belamich said: "The military watch has been our passion since our early days and we are looking to reinvent the first models of these wristwatches which appeared on pilots' wrists in the 1920s."

Recently, Bell & Ross honoured the aviators of the 1940s with the Vintage Original Carbon, a timepiece that slots into the brand's Vintage Collection.
