Adidas watches - happy birthday Adidas

First published: 20-08-2009

On August 18th 1949, Adidas was founded, meaning that this week marked the organisation's 60th anniversary, creating well-respected clothing, shoes and Adidas watches in this period.

Created by Adi Dassler, the three-striped brand arose out of the shop of a "modest shoemaker from a small rural town" which aimed to be original yet practical to the market on a whole.

Erich Stamminger, president of the Adidas brand, explained that Adi Dassler's interest and passion for sport provides the drive for the business and his dream, while providing athletes with the best product available to them.

Now, it continues to remain close to this mission six decades on, he added.

Mr Stamminger continued: "The motivation of our company founder and his close association with sport will continue to shape our path in future on our way to becoming the world's leading sports brand."

FIFA joined in the birthday celebrations, wishing the company so involved in football the very best after its contributions to the sport.
