Accurist Watches praised for ethical and environment commitment

Accurist Watches has been awarded membership of the The Responsible Jewellery Council's (RJC) Member Certification Scheme after the organisation praised its attitude to ethical, social and environmental obligations.

The announcement follows strict third-party auditing by SGS, an independent firm accredited by the RJC, which deemed Accurist to meet the demanding requirements necessary to join the scheme.

Andrew Loftus, the managing director of Accurist Watches, explained that the company decided to apply for membership because of its belief in ethical sourcing and accountable working practices.

"Accurist prides itself on good corporate citizenship and is delighted to become the first British watch company with RJC certification," he said.

The RJC is a global organisation that works on a non-profit basis and is dedicated to promoting an ethical approach to environmental, social and human rights practice in the jewellery industry.

Michael Rae, the organisation's chief executive officer, said: "RJC warmly congratulates Accurist Watches Limited on its certification."
