About Movado
Movado watches are historically unique in that the iconic gold dot watch dial design is the first and only timepiece ever to be selected for a permanent place in New York's Museum of Modern Art. The Bauhaus design, drawing on the movement's ethos of simplicity, function and tastefulness, was created in 1947 by the artist Nathan George Horwitt, taking inspiration from the sun at high noon. The watch hands rotate around the gold dot much as the Earth rotates around the sun and the simple yet elegant design has remained a feature of Movado watches ever since. Movado Museum watch collection takes its name from this distinction, although the Edge, Rondiro and 1881 collections still feature the iconic design. The purity of the Movado watch design makes it immortal, adding a simplistically chic touch to a discerning look.
