It appears that watchmakers are on a bit of a revival kick at the minute, and Certina has thrown their hat in the mix with their DS-1 automatic: a beautiful watch inspired by a popular release from their 60s catalogue. At the heart of the DS-1 beats the solid and reliable powermatic 80 automatic that has a very healthy up to 80 hours of power reserve.
The DS-1 is then strengthened by a newly developed Titanium-based Nivachron balance spring which helps the watch be more resistant to magnetic fields and boosts the shock resistance. 100m of water resistance is a nice bonus meaning it can get wet though not suitable for diving.
Finally, the radiant grey sunburst and nicely tapered accents create a visually appealing dial while the twisted lugs give the aesthetic a modern twist. A three o’clock date window allows you to keep track of the date, and the addition of two straps increases the versatility making it great for everyday wear as well as those special occasions that require more elegance.
