The pocket watch is exactly as described and great value for money. My husband had always wanted a pocket watch and he is very pleased with it.

I always fancied one - but never took the plunge. But just recently a special celebration was due so I treated myself to a quality pocket watch. My first inclination was to shop around locally, but I couldn't find a high quality pocket watch in any jewellers.
My next port of call was the Internet. I looked at various products from different traders but I wasn't satisfied. Then I saw the 'Watch Shop', which I thought was a catchy title. This was my first introduction to this trader. The site was most impressive and when I saw the Tissot T-Pocket Full Hunter pocket watch, I knew I was in the right territory, so to speak.

Why did I buy this particular watch? First, because it was a beautiful example of Swiss craftsmanship. This is a mechanical watch. It is silver and comes with a silver chain, which is about 11inches(280mm) long. Both the face and back of the watch are tastefully engraved.

Press the knob and the front cover opens to reveal a white face with Roman numerals, and exquisitely made black hands. There is also a small seconds hand which is a very useful feature when one wants to know the exact time. Note, the back of the watch cannot be opened by this press knob, as is possible with some other pocket watches. If the back lid has to be opened I will leave that to the experts!

On the outer circumference of the dial face there are the numbers 13 (starting at the one o'clock position) to 24, (at the 12 o'clock position) thus facilitating international time. These small numbers are in red and very delicately done.

The watch is a traditional timepiece which is, by any standards, a top-flight instrument for measuring time. I can honestly say that there is nothing about this product that I dislike. To date it is an excellent time-keeper - a prime requirement with any watch.

The visual presentation of this time-piece would be hard to improve on. The presentation box has been well thought out: it measures 6.5ins long by 4.5 ins deep, by 3.25 ins. high. It is black but the lid part is red with the 'Tissot' name on the front of the lid. The right and left hand sides of the box do not open. Inside these two walls, which are accessed by a white pull tab, we find the International Warranty Guarantee which comprises a small booklet and a card which the Watch Shop have duly filled in. There is also a User's manual but this is of a very general nature. This booklet of 100 pages is multi-lingual as one would expect, but the section in English is a mere 6 pages in length.

It is in this context that I think Tissot need to rethink their presentation of this very desirable time-piece. The enclosed manual instructions are generic; there is not one diagram or picture of the pocket watch which I bought - only one of a wrist watch. A great deal of the information given relates to batter watches!! I would propose that Tissot should have a specifically printed manual exclusively for this item. It would make the presentation more personal and professionally complete.

Tissot claim that, 'This instructions are valid for all TISSOT mechanical ----watches'. The translation could be improved here as well! 'This' should read 'These'! But apart from this spelling mistake, more specific information applicable to my pocket watch is a must.

Despite these little criticisms, I thought the inclusion of two small books which are found at the base of the box (accessed from the rear) was a very nice touch. One book is entitled, 'Tissot: Swiss Watches since 1853' by Estelle Fallet (279 pages) is lovely to have for anyone who appreciates the story of this prestigious Company. The other book is really a catalogue of Tissot products (84 pages) which is a very high quality glossy booklet.
When the watch is placed in its box with the lid open to view, I have to say that the visual presentation of this distinctive watch is most impressive. I showed it to my family and friends and they were most impressed (even astonished) at the quality of the presentation. But it was in handling the watch itself when they all exclaimed, 'What a beautiful watch'!

I think that says it all. Oh! I mustn't forget: tucked in under the lid was a black velvet bag with the TISSOT name printed in silver. A very thoughtful touch if you want to protect this watch as you carry it in your pocket! Coins and key-rings would not make good bedfellows with this quality pocket watch.

All told, I'm 100% satisfied with this lovely watch. Watch Shop gave excellent service. Their web site enabled me to inspect the watch close-up on the screen. Their presentation was superb and was persuasive in influencing my decision to purchase this article.

But in the final analysis, it was the sheer quality of this work of art that led me to fork out £340. That is a very sizeable sum for a pocket watch - but when you have this watch in your hand you know you have a quality article which will last a lifetime.

Anyone who takes the leap and purchases this pocket watch will have no regrets, and if purchased from Watch Shop they will be given excellent service. I certainly will do business with them again.
