Quote from another reviewer - Jim - below: The watch has been back to Seiko twice and on the last trip I was told that our Technical Manager found no fault with the crown. Models with large crowns are susceptible to being caught occasionally and this is not a fault.

Ive had exactly the same problem and response though Im not convinced the snagging caused the time loss. But if it did, well, thats a foreseeable problem and is a fault - ie a design flaw which Seiko should fess up to. I certainly wont buy another Seiko big-crown watch.

This is the first time I have spent more than £9.99 on a watch and I am very glad I did, the face is simple and uncluttered, very easy to read. The quality is very good with a precise metal strap the locks and safety locks too.

The black finish is understated matching the simple overall design.

This is a Christmas present for a discerning adult, so there is no way that a mother could choose accurately! Son simply sent me the web site and I ordered it.

The watch appears very simple and quite stark - black, large face with white numerals, larger at 12,3,6,9, which enhances the look, as the face is big enough for the embellishment. The strap is a chunky black metal one and entirely in keeping with the watch face. The great delight is the clear back where the movement can be seen. The other wonderful feature is that it is kinetic, so no messing about with batteries, essential for an occasionally forgetful owner.

Very please with the look of this watch .I like clear faces that are not clutetterd with lots of additinal dials that most people never use. White numbers and hands on large black face is very clear so the time is seen with only a quick glance. This is my 3rd Seiko Kinetic watch and all have been excellent .
One slight critisism .The instruction booklet did not give any information on adjusting the bracelet particular if you need to remove a link.

I've had this watch since February and was very staisfied with its performance until 2 months ago. Since then it occasionally snags on my cuff when I take off my coat - this happens with different coats and I find out afterwards when I check the time and find the watch has stopped. I have a similar model Seiko which hasn't shown this fault in two years. The watch has been back to Seiko twice and on the last trip I was told that "our Technical Manager found no fault with the crown. Models with large crowns are susceptible to being caught occasionally and this is not a fault". This is rubbish but it shows the response of Seiko to a problem. I'm very disappointed with Seiko and hope they may smarten up. Be warned!

In summary it 'does what it says on the tin'. I've had the watch for a couple of weeks now - wearing it as an everyday watch. It is slightly heavier than i'm used too, perhaps because my last everyday watch was titanium, but the weight isn't noticeable when on one's wrist. The glass and construction of the watch seems pretty robust. My watches usually get bashed around a fair bit but so far i haven't got a single scratch on either! As with all Seiko watches you won't be able to fault the accuracy of the quartz. All in all excellent value for money on a watch that should last years to come

I'd been looking at various black steel automatic/kinetic watches over some time and umming and ahhing about which model to go for. Saw this Seiko and loved the design of the face. It's slightly minimalist but classic. It's timeless as there's no gimmicks about the design so it should still look sexy in years to come.

Of course, this is kinetic so the battery is constantly charged by the movement of your arm as you walk. One thing not mentioned too much in specifications on websites is what that little button at about 2 o'clock is for. It's to give an indication of how much charge is in the watch. Press the little button when the second hand is on about 12 and it whizzes around to a certain point on the face. The instructions tell you what the results mean. Basically, the 'later' the better - anything past 6 and it's got months of charge in it. I found that it was pretty much there out of the box and I've worn it most days since so no problems there. The charge will last for months without any use at all!

The only slight concern I had was about the apparent 'greyness' of the middle part of the strap. Most images seem to suggest the outer strap is black but the inner part is a kind of grey colour. Wasn't sure about a two-tone strap but took a shot. Sure enough, the middle section is indeed black, although it has a kind of 'glossier' finish than the outer part of the strap. It's not different enough to notice generally but you can see it in the light as you twist your wrist.

Another lovely touch is the back of the case - it's clear so you can see the mechanism literally in action!

I have got relatively thin wrists so knew I'd need to have a few links taken out after I'd received it. I ended up having 5 taken out at a popular high street watch/shoe/key place. Don't forget to factor the cost of that in. It's now a lovely fit on my wrist, as you can see from the image attached. The face is just the right size - not too big but not too small. For reference, I'm 5'8" and usually wear small size shirts, etc so that gives you an idea of proportional size on the wrist.

It's a lovely piece and I'm very happy with it!

This model is really a very nice one. I've had the watch for a week and the kinetic drive is very accurate indeed. It has just the right size (39 mm) and is not too heavy for day to day wear. It has a very good readability in poorly lit surroundings. The bracelet looks quite unique with it's mixture of matte and gloss ion-plated metal and is really comfortable to wear. My only nitpick remark is that Seiko could have made the hands equal in width, but I can live with that.

This Seiko Kinetic watch has a very light and comfortable feel - can be used everyday. The ion-plated gun-metal metal casing against white etchings is very nice indeed. The illuminated watch hands and numbers with markers - light up quite prominently at night. The back of the watch has a clear glass casing - unique (not norm) for Seiko watches. Have not routinely worn for 3 days and with its Kinetic movement - is still keeping excellent time. Clasp very comfortable. I'd definitely recommend this watch!!
